Event Details

You arrive at the lake (just 5 minutes off the M25) and can optionally have a bacon/egg roll and croissant breakfast by the lake or in the clubhouse if preferred. A safety brief is given, everyone fitted with safety gear, and then we are straight into the first challenge.

The clubhouse with its wonderful views over the lake provides the perfect place for an informal company meeting before or after the team-building event. Audio-visual equipment can be provided as required.

MORNING

The party is split into 3 to 6 teams and given a briefing on how a sailing boat is rigged and used on the lake. The teams then have to rig a sailing dinghy given all the component parts and then are appraised accordingly. Once checked and corrected the boats are launched and each team given a challenge to transfer their team to a given location under a set of logical rules. Boats may be paddled or sailed and the challenge is on.
Once complete a short time is given before lunch for swimming, chilling, etc. A BBQ lunch is provided.

AFTERNOON

The crew is assembled and briefed on the basic materials needed and knot techniques used in the construction of a raft. Raft Building focuses on group dynamics, communication skills and leadership. We present the group with the challenge of building rafts out of limited resources. They must work together on all stages from carrying their materials to designing, building and finally paddling their rafts. When rafts are built and checked, the groups paddle their rafts around a set course on a woodland lake. The hands-on section of the workshop is over when all rafts are completely disassembled and materials are placed neatly back where they were before we started. Then we debrief the experience, highlighting positive teamwork, and setting goals for improvement
