Working closely with an event management company can achieve much more than just team building

Year One – team building
A large sector company approached FS-EM to organise a team building/training event. After thoroughly discussing their requirements and aims, a two-day event was agreed.
Day one consisted of some outdoor team challenges, writing a team mission statement and looking at effective/ineffective teams and team development.
On day two the theories the team had discussed the previous day about team working were put into practice when the team participated in a fun and competitive New Forest Treasure Hunt. The whole event was facilitated with FS-EM providing a much needed impartial presence. This enabled the team to discuss and deal with some sensitive issues, which may not have been aired with an internal facilitator.
Following the event, FS-EM conducted a follow-up day at the client’s offices, which involved having 1-2-1 sessions with each participant and giving the team feedback. An analysis of the outcome of the event then prompted a part restructure of the team and led each member to obtain individual feedback and build a detailed development path/plan.
Using information gained from the team building event, the company then altered their recruitment strategy to better suit the needs of the team and its individuals, resulting in a larger and more harmonious team.
Year Two – communication, development, trust AND team building
FS-EM kept in touch with the company and their progress over the next 12 months. The year two event aims were discussed, and a different two-day event was agreed. The training concentrated on some self-exploration and development, and looked at how each team member fitted into the whole team. FS-EM ran their popular Boot Camp event, which developed communication and trust amongst the team, as well as providing a chance for the new team members to experience a fun team building event.
Once again feedback was obtained, analysed and shared, and this assisted with individual and team development plans.
Year Three – to be decided
The requirements of the year three event will shortly be discussed with the company. FS-EM are keen to help this thriving team develop further, and it is made easier by having an on-going relationship with the company. They know the people and their business, making it significantly easier to get to the root of their event objectives and any issues affecting team performance, and design an event completely tailored to obtain the most out of each and every participant.
