Batakjockeys
Event Overview
Batakjockeys is a new interactive horse racing game, the likes of which has never been seen before.
Each race can have up to six players (Jockeys). Each jockey is assigned a horse (Each horse has it’s own character), and a Batakjockey game pad. The pad consists of four large buttons that light up in a continuous, rapid and random sequence throughout the race.
Event Details
A good jockey will keep his head down, in order to concentrate on galloping, and is therefore unlikely to be aware of where he is lying in the race, if he looks up, he‘ll slow down. Each jockey is therefore assigned a trainer whose role is to watch the race and spur their respective jockey on with words of encouragement and by whipping them up into a frenzy. We appreciate that whips might be a bit painful in such circumstances, so the trainers have thoughtfully been issued with harmless sausage balloons instead.
On the “Off”, the jockeys have to hit the lights on their game pad as fast as they light up. The faster they do this, the faster their horse will race along the six furlong race track. They can only hit a button when it is lit up. If they hit an unlit button the pad will lock out for one second, which means their horse will momentarily slow down. The race is visible to all on a large screen, or it can be displayed on a large screen TV if available. The MC will also keep up a commentary of the race, to encourage spectator participation.
The action is fast and furious, with the jockeys, heads down, franticly hitting out the lights as fast as they possibly can, whilst the trainers stand behind them whipping them up into a frenzy with their balloons. It is impossible for spectators, trainers, and the jockeys themselves not to get caught up in the excitement of the action.
Spectators will have been encouraged to place bets on their favourite horse, and their screams of excitement or despair will add to the trainers’ encouragement of the jockeys. The result is frequently a very noisy photo finish, and the suspense will build when the race is over whilst the computerised “Stewards” work out the first second and third positions.
A “Meeting “ usually consists of seven races, with the final race run between the winning jockeys of the previous six. This means that up to 72 people can be involved over an evening if they each take a turn at being either a jockey or a trainer.
The “Punters” are issued with fun money with which to place their bets, and the player with the most money at the end of the evening will win a bottle of champagne or other similar prize.
Batakjockeys is an ideal fun event for parties, corporate events, team building or promotions. It is the next generation of virtual horse racing. It’s interactive concept gets everyone involved and people will go away at the end of the event having had an exciting and usually hilarious evening.
